You are here: Home Competitive About the Program
We offer a variety of competitive programs at al ages. Our program caters to all ability levels beginning at local and moving through provincial levels. Admission to the program is usually based on the recommendation of the Competitive Head Coach after September tryouts. Howeve, recommendations to the program can also come from recreational coaches who see potential in a child.
The programs below are designed for those gymnasts who demonstrate exceptional talent in gymnastics as well as other qualities such as age, ability, body type, flexibility, attitude and determination.
Developmental B Teams: these are our youngest age group of competitive athletes ages 4-5 year olds, they train every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00-5:30. This group focuses on physical abilities and skill preparation needed to enter into the competitive program. Conditioning and learning how each of the muscle groups work to make body shapes is very important, they also work on flexibility and strength training.
Developmental A Teams: these athletes are 6-9 years of age, they train every Monday and Wednesday evening 4:00-7:00pm. These athletes also focus on physical abilities areas of strength, power, flexibility and endurance. They are also focusing on skill preparation on bars, beam, vault and floor. "NEW" this year is the Junior Olympic Program(JO) which Gymnastics Canada has adopted from the United States. The JO Program will allow our Developmental A athletes to get the opportunity to experience competitive gymnastics earlier by competing compulsory routines in the JO Level 1-5.
Competitive Groups: these groups have above average skills for the sport of gymnastics, ranging in age from 9-15years. The athletes train a minimum of 12-14 hours per week. They compete at invitational competitions as well as trials(Northern Zones) for a spot to represent our club at the Provincial Championships. The team focuses a lot of time on flexibility, strenght and conditioning skills which in turn benefits them in all 4 events (floor, beam, bars and vault) " NEW" this year is the Junior Olympic Program (JO) which Gymnastics Canada has adopted from the United States. Some of our competitive team will be competing the compulsory routines in the JO Level 1-5 while others will be focusing on skills and routines in Level 6 and 7.
Here at Ashlin Gymnastics we believe our Competitive programs outlined above will challenge each athlete to achieve their personal goals and to be the best they can be. By offering high quality coaching and training methods we believe that this excellence will be achieved at each Junior Olympic Level 1-10, having success at Northern Zones and Provincial Championships.
